Making a Splash: Waterfront 2023

One of the most exciting places to be at Wicosuta is the waterfront. It’s where campers can enjoy a variety of activities on Newfound Lake, including kayaking, paddle-boarding, waterskiing, knee boarding, jumping on our inflatable trampoline, climbing on the inflatable jungle gym and more. The waterfront is also a place where campers can learn about water safety, teamwork, and developing new skills. It’s a great place to build our CONFIDENCE, COMPETENCE, and COMMUNITY.

The best part of Waterfront is getting to be out on the lake on a PCD (Perfect Camp Day). It’s the greatest feeling watching campers go beyond their comfort zone and try waterskiing or wakeboarding for the first time. The girls are always so supportive of each other, and that positive energy makes a beautiful day even better. I’m looking forward to spending more time in the sun and getting to know new campers and staff in Summer 2023.

Campers of all ages and abilities enjoy the waterfront. Campers can choose waterfront as an activity on their schedule as well as enjoy the lake during evening activities and all camp events including campfires, boat rides, and Wico Challenge Cup and Color War.

Our waterfront program is broken into 2 subcategories. Our SMALL CRAFTS area includes kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, swimming, and enjoying the beach front.  Our MOTOR BOATS area allows campers to learn and improve on their waterskiing, wakeboarding, and knee boarding skills.

My favorite summer activities are kayaking, sailing, and especially paddle board yoga. Having experience teaching paddling lessons, I was thrilled to be asked to work on the waterfront this summer! I’m so excited to be able to keep sharing my passion for lake sports at Wico!

The waterfront provides an excellent opportunity for campers to learn about water safety. They will learn how to properly wear life jackets, how to enter and exit the water safely, and what to do in case of an emergency. Lifeguards are always on duty and ensure that campers are following safety rules and staying within designated swim areas.

I’m extremely grateful and excited to be returning to Waterfront for Summer ’23 to be working alongside my fellow staff members and to be outside in the sunshine. I enjoy being out on the water and seeing the children smiling and succeeding, making a greater impact on their lives.

The waterfront offers campers a wide range of activities and opportunities to learn and have fun. From swimming and kayaking to learning about water safety and developing new skills, the waterfront is a highlight of our summer camp experience. Grab your sunscreen and towel, and get ready to make memories at the waterfront.

I am really excited to be working at the Waterfront for the first time this summer. I love being out on the water, working with groups, and having a great time out on a lake. I am really looking forward to supporting the girls to grow in confidence over the summer both on and off the water. I can’t wait to be spending so much time out in the sun, meeting new people and being in the water!
